The Goals - (equipping2.asp)
- Development of Accountability. This is where we create the environment where men can truly go deep in accountable relationships with other Christian men, where indelible relationships are developed with other Christian men that will last a lifetime. A typical schedule is a two hour get together that includes Bible or book study, discussion for the first hour, followed by small group break outs to share and pray together and develop open accountability to address the temptations each of us struggles with.
- Leadership Development - This is the context in which you develop relationships with the men that you hope will work alongside you in the development of your men's ministry. It models the small group discipling experience that you want the rest of the men in your church to have.
- Longevity - We encourage groups to stay together indefinitely. This facilitates spiritual growth and growth in accountability. This is the environment in which men develop "spiritual muscle" enabling them to survive daily temptations and model Christ in their home, community, and workplace.
- Growing in the faith and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have found that rotating study activities between Bible study and book study offers the best spiritual development over time. By alternating between studying a book of the Bible and a book with a spiritual topic we get the benefit of learning from others while never wandering too far from the Scriptures.
Basic Training is a nine-month curriculum that is specifically designed for this phase (Level 1) of development of your men. Modeled after Christ's example of investing in 12 other men that will change the world, we suggest each Basic Training group have 8-12 members.
Empowering your men - letting the leader lead.
